Greetings from the west...

Following my return to OR, the boys and I hiked to the alpine Twin Lakes, located at 5,000ft in the Umpqua National Forest. Due to the warm days and freezing nights, these amazing ice filaments formed all along the ground. The water would seep down through the mud and freeze into ice stalactites.

The side set on my hand was the dirt we walked on and the ice castles actually grew down from the dirt.

First we arrived at Big Twin Lake, a 14-acre lake with depth of 48'.
