Greetings from the west...

For Christmas, Chris' parent offered to pay towards a ski weekend for us. At the end of February, we decided to use this opportunity to ski Mt Hood. The first day we skied at Mt Hood Meadows, located on the east face of Hood.

The Cascade Express lift took us to 7,300ft, the highest elevation at the resort (aside from the 9,000ft reached by the non-operational SnowCat). But that sweet smile quickly faded as Chris ribbed me into…

Twilight! The photo can't do it justice. This double black diamond dropped you into the experts only Heather Canyon and was so steep that when I skied cross slope, my uphill arm almost dragged in the snow! I reached such breakneck speeds by 2/3rds the way down that my terrified attempted to slow up a bit ended with me sliding the whole width of the trail on my rear!

While I let the adrenaline recede a bit, we watched some other brave souls take the plunge. Of course, this was Chris' favorite trail!
