The weekend following my return to OR, Chris and I traveled to Seattle to visit IslandWood, where I plan on beginning my quest for a Masters. The campus is located on Bainbridge Island in the Puget Sound; its 255-acres contains a cattail marsh, bog, four-acre pond, second growth forest, and stream The unique outdoor learning center was inspired by the children it would educate, with their design ideas generating specifics like a floating classroom, suspension bridge, forest canopy structure and several tree houses, like the one seen here. Its "Earth-Smart Design" reflects the organization's active participation in energy conservation, composting, recycling, and harnessing alternative energy sources

As we traveled by ferry back to the mainland, we got a beautiful view of the Seattle skyline.
Mt Rainer peaks above the dock.
