Cleopatra's Needle (The Obelisk) - 71-foot, 244-ton granite- First erected in 1600 BC in Heliopolis Egypt. It was moved to Alexandria in 12 BC by the Romans. It was then presented by the Khedive of Egypt to the City of NY in 1881.

Claws at the base of the Needle- bronze replicas of sea crabs crafted by the Romans. One crab alone weighs approximately 900 pounds
