Our last camping trip of the year was one of the most impressive. We camped near the base of South Sister, which we planned on trying to summit the following day. (We had been unsuccessful at our previous attempt back last October {photos Nov '06}) Due to the cold temperatures, we had the campground to ourselves. After an icy night, this was the spectacular view of South Sister that greeted us as we emerged from our tent.

There was quite a bit more snow then we expected so the hike was slow going.
